Improved Logistics Metrics, Processes, and Reporting
Challenge
Disaster asset tracking brings substantial planning and logistics challenges. Events are unscheduled, the scope and damage uncertain. It brings a unique level of uncertainty to a logistics program.
A federal client needed to track and successfully report locations of government assets and supply shipments in “steady state” before a disaster event, during the response and through the recovery.
Approach
Galvan managed a satellite-based asset tracking program, from 20,000 tracking devices with hundreds of thousands of monthly position messages to a central logistics system to boosting the data collection and reporting of asset information to Agency leaders. This program covered both Contiguous U.S. (CONUS) and Outside of the Contiguous U.S. (OCONUS) locations.
Solution
Galvan successfully fused the delivery of position data with specialized reporting and inventory control improvements that strengthened disaster responses over years of performance.
The team developed new program performance metrics providing more transparency to agency leaders. Galvan further advised the client with after-action analyses that provided lessons learned and recommendations for disaster responses in addition to providing readiness training for client personnel. This effective and efficient delivery was consistently acknowledged by the client.
