Doug Austin is Senior Director at Galvan and Associates. With over a decade as a strategic procurement and management advisor to Steve Galvan, Doug is currently the lead on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) contract. Over the past ten years, Doug has led million-dollar contracts in areas of procurement support and mission delivery achieving consistent high-performance ratings.
Doug is a senior professional with significant federal policy and strategic planning experience, along with improving performance results from Federal government programs. He is skilled in Federal policy development and has served as liaison with senior National Economic Council, Office of Management and Budget and EOP staff along with other Federal agencies and public meetings. Doug managed teams assigned to update the Small Business Administration (SBA) 2008 – 2013 Strategic Plan and to produce a report on how SBA programs can better reach “under-served markets” and metrics to evaluate results.
In government, Doug was a senior official at the SBA Policy Office and at the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Additionally, Doug served as a U.S. House of Representative staff member supporting oversight committees. He was a staff writer for Investor Business Daily where he was responsible for writing both news stories and editorials and for the national financial newspaper where he covered energy, technology and other business trends on the New America economy page. Doug is a published writer with communications and advocacy experience in government, print media and trade association settings.
Doug earned a Master of Arts in International Studies from The Claremont Graduate School, a Bachelor of Arts in Government (with Honors), and a Bachelor of Arts in History cum laude from the University of Redlands.
