As part of a federal agency’s COVID-19 response for its trillion-dollar lending economic stimulus, there was a need for an IT review to assess any potential risks to the IT infrastructure and to suggest a strategic modernization approach. Galvan conducted a comprehensive IT infrastructure examination and this included an assessment of the data analytic capabilities required for fraud prevention and detection across the financial loan portfolios.
Financial Workbook Efficiencies
When a client needed to improve and increase the efficiency of the financial workbooks used to gauge the financial health of its clients, Galvan developed a comprehensive process to migrate the workbooks to existing enterprise business intelligence tools. Galvan also improved the efficiency of manual processes by introducing high-impact, quick turnaround Robotic Process Automations (RPAs) to reduce excessive manual workloads and workarounds and improve transaction and data exchange delays.

Assessment Expertise Lead to Successful Utilization
Challenge
A private sector client, partnered with a federal agency, requested an Independent Verification and Validation assessment of an ongoing system development implementation. They wanted to ensure that the specific requirements of a government grant were being met by the software developer. In addition, they wanted an outside analysis of the project’s health and ongoing progress.
Approach
At project outset, we engaged stakeholders to gather project information, verify requirements, validate current state of system functionality and evaluate it against mandated legislative efforts. Upon reviewing materials provided and participating in project meetings, we performed a number of formal assessments for Requirements, Development, Configuration Management, Design, Testing, Security and Specific Functionality.
Solution
From our assessments, we developed findings and recommendations which were presented to Senior Leadership. As the effort continued, we tracked project progress across those findings to determine if improvements were occurring. As our recommendations were implemented, the project health improved and it was considered a success by the client and government sponsors. The system was effectively utilized by thousands of government customers.
