Pandemic Response & Recovery

In these difficult times as organizations respond to the pandemic, it is imperative to have the critical resources with the expertise needed to respond quickly. Understanding the requirements to manage processes and oversight will be key for the receiving and disbursing entities.

As we plan from the response to the recovery mode to get to a transformational state, success of initiatives can no longer be claimed by creating agency-wide collaborative plans or frameworks and then updating such versions over a full year cycle.  It is time to quickly and accurately create and execute so that we can effectively respond to the scale and magnitude that our government requires.

There is noticeable acceleration in the deployment of the capabilities that are core to modernization. In my previous message, I stated “Performance today will rely on enablers such as integrating data, retooling the workforce, and leveraging information technology capabilities that use methods such as artificial intelligence, analytics and efficient use of infrastructure to achieve effectiveness in unprecedented ways.” This is true now with a clearer focus and purpose to deliver. Our federal government implemented “enablers” used in the commercial space. The President’s Management Agenda and other initiatives laid the foundation for the Key Drivers of Transformation. These are crucial steps on the way to execution.

In closing, I wish safety and success to all that are making a difference in responding to the uncertainty.
