John Carlson is an IT and Administrative Consultant with Galvan and Associates. He is the primary systems administrator and go-to computer technology implementer and overall troubleshooter. John has guided and performed the implementation of all Galvan and Associates’ business systems into the cloud, most notably the Microsoft Office 365 suite: SharePoint, Exchange email, and Deltek Time Collection.
As Galvan and Associates’ Systems Administrator, John ensures that all the company’s data in the cloud is securely stored with secure user access to cloud documents and resources for all authorized users who are able to use industry-standard devices e.g. PC’s, Macs, tablets, smartphones.
When projects and proposals require close collaboration between Galvan and Associates and clients, John creates seamless online collaboration environments for nationwide participants. John’s valuable skills are often utilized for writing proposals, conducting research and creating reports on a wide range of business and government-related topics.
With the constant, fast-moving advance of information technology, John aggressively researches and tests emerging technologies that can provide strategic and timely solutions for Galvan and Associates’ current and future clients, e.g. IBM i2 Smarter Cities, Data Analytics (including IBM Watson), Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT).
John has 30 plus years of business and technology experience working in a variety of industries; including Fortune 500 Media Publishing, Banking and Financial Services, Fortune 100 industrial manufacturing.
He holds a Master of Science in Finance/Accounting from Benedictine University and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing/Business Administration from Northern Illinois University. John’s certifications include IBM Intelligent Operations and ITIL v3.
John served in the U.S. Navy (Petty Officer) destroyer ship communications and received the Vietnam Service Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon for two tours, and Combat Action Ribbon.
