Challenge
The Office of the Chief Information Officer’s (OCIO) strategic plan required alignment with the Departmental mission and vision; clarifying the lack of direction for operational and strategic performance. Furthermore, the plan didn’t address administrative priorities and integration between budget and business activities.
Approach
Galvan and Associates’ approach for the strategic plan facilitated the understanding of the relationship of OCIO goals in relationship to the Agency’s strategic goals. The plan included aligning goals, integrating governance practices across functional areas, identifying internal projects that require capital investment linkages and funding, and reducing the cost of executing operational requirements.
Results
Galvan and Associates created a strategic plan that outlined the organizational IT vision, mission, guiding principles, goals, performance metrics, and functional activities required for operational excellence. Execution of the strategic plan enabled the office to optimize IT policy and applications. In addition, Galvan and Associates developed an IT Strategic Roadmap to provide an understanding of the five-year effort to securely deliver OCIO services and business value commensurate with agency expectations and requirements.
